Positano, Italy -- Lying on a black-pebbled beach, lined with bright orange and yellow striped umbrellas, I look up at the hill of villas and shops stacked upon one another and take in the scenic, 360 view that is the Italian village of Positano. Nestled away on the shore of the Amalfi Coast, this cliffside vacation spot will take your breath away! No, seriously it will take your breath away climbing back up the 800-step stairway from the beach to the top of town. Despite the forced cardio workout, Positano continues to enchant me every time I visit.

Where to stay – While there are many beautiful hotels (La Sirenus, Il San Pietro Di Positano, and Casa Buonocore) on my last visit, I stayed at a bed and breakfast with a private terrace overlooking the coast and a host who showed her Italian hospitality by greeting me with hand made pasta and wine from her vineyard. I enjoyed this change of pace from the hotel scene because I felt immersed in the culture, as well as feeling right at home.

What to eat – The panoramic view, the elegant décor and mos importantly, the mouth-watering food, was unbeatable at the luxurious restaurant La Sponda, Hotel Sirenus. This proved to be my favorite dining experience of the trip and is a MUST when visiting.

What to do – This laid back town is a place to unwind and nothing says relaxation like a beach day. Offering multiple beaches, Spiaggia del fornillo and Spiaggia Grande, Positano is the perfect place to soak up the sun and refresh in the cool, ocean water. The quant town is full of unique shops, grenada stands and beautiful architecture; so simply exploring the streets and taking in the beauty makes for one spectacular day as well. If you want to satisfy your adventurous side, the island of Capri is just a boat ride away where you can find the famous blue, green and white grottos.

So start packing and I’ll see you in Positano. Ciao bella!
